Early, pre-The Walking Dead, Telltale adventures are actually decent. Loved their takes on Monkey Island and Sam & Max, and Back to the Future: The Game was great too.Speaking of 3D point'n'click adventures, Another Code R: A Journey into the Lost Memories on Wii is one of few decent 3D games in the genre. Please note, though, that it wasn't released in the US, and the story might be a bit confusing if you haven't played the original on Nintendo DS. Aside from that, it's a stellar adventure. It's a huge shame its poor market performance killed CiNG, and no other developer has the balls to make its 3D PnC formula mainstream. I 'completed' Oxenfree a few hours ago, and I'm sort of in love with the game.
To be clear, it is more walking simulator than classic p&c adventure, there's no inventory and barely any puzzles in it, but the story and characters really drew me in, unexpectedly. It has one of the most engaging and memorable narratives that I experienced in recent memory in any medium, there were a few moments that resonated with me emotionally, surprisingly.
The buildup to the final confrontation and climax are expertly crafted, the mystery and resolution stuck with me for one reason in particular. There is absolutely no way for 'your' Alex to ever escape the cycle, no matter what you do and how much of the island's secrets you uncover. She is forever doomed to return to the island and repeat the events that transpire there, there is no chance for a real happy end. The best you can hope to accomplish is to stop one Alex from going to the island, in one of presumably infinite timelinesI should add that the voice acting is excellent as wellI apologize if this isn't the type of game you're looking for, but I felt the need to praise it and this seemed like the right place to do so.
